Every second, all living beings breathe in oxygen from the air and breathe out carbon dioxide. If we keep removing oxygen and adding carbon dioxide, it seems logical that the air around us should gradually lose its oxygen and become filled with carbon dioxide. Yet, this does not happen in reality. The air composition stays almost the same everywhere on Earth. This raises the question of how nature maintains such a balance in the gases of the atmosphere despite continuous breathing by humans and animals.
