Why does time slow down near the speed of light?

l have a question about science.Time slows down near the speed of light because, according to Einstein’s theory of relativity, moving clocks run slower compared to those at rest. This effect called time dilation happens because space and time are linked and change for objects moving very fast. So basically why does time slow down near the speed of light?

    Time slows down near the speed of light due to time dilation, a concept from Einstein’s theory of relativity. As an object moves faster, time passes more slowly for it relative to a stationary observer.
