An element is a pure substance of one type of atom. A compound is two or more elements chemically bonded. A mixture combines substances physically, retaining their individual properties.

An element is a pure substance made of one type of atom and cannot be broken down. A compound is made of two or more elements chemically bonded in fixed ratios. A mixture is a physical combination of substances where each keeps its own properties and can be separated easily.

An element has only one kind of atom, a compound has different atoms joined together, and a mixture has different substances just mixed, not joined.
