 I need help with this math problem. 😩

There’s a triangle, and one side is twice the second side, and the third side is 5 cm longer than the second side.

The perimeter of the triangle is 50 cm. I have no clue how to even start. Can someone please find the lengths of all three sides and explain it in the simplest way possible? 🙏

Fatima – The sides are 22.5 cm, 11.25 cm, and 16.25 cm. – Mar 11, 2025 - 05:11

    Let's break it down step by step in a simple way.

    Step 1: Define the sides
    Let’s say the second side is x cm.
    - The first side is twice the second side, so it’s 2x cm.
    - The third side is 5 cm longer than the second side, so it’s x + 5 cm.

    Now we have the three sides:
    1. 2x
    2. x
    3. x + 5

    Step 2: Use the Perimeter Formula
    The perimeter of a triangle is the sum of all its sides.

    So, we add them up and set them equal to 50 cm:
    2x + x + (x + 5) = 50

    Step 3: Solve for x
    First, simplify the equation:
    2x + x + x + 5 = 50
    4x + 5 = 50

    Now, subtract 5 from both sides:
    4x = 45

    Now, divide by 4:
    x = 11.25

    Step 4: Find the Side Lengths
    Now that we know x = 11.25:
    - Second side = 11.25 cm
    - First side = 2 × 11.25 = 22.5 cm
    - Third side = 11.25 + 5 = 16.25 cm

    Answer
    The three sides of the triangle are 22.5 cm, 11.25 cm, and 16.25 cm.

    Hope that helps!

    Let the second side be x. Then the first side is 2x, and the third side is x + 5.

    The perimeter equation:

    2x + x + (x + 5) = 50
    2x+x+(x+5)=50

    4x + 5 = 50
    4x+5=50

    4x = 45
    4x=45

    x = 11.25
    x=11.25

    So, the sides are 22.5 cm, 11.25 cm, and 16.25 cm.
